Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back to term 1! I am really excited to be starting my role as Principal of the Voyage Learning Campus and am looking forward to a successful year, full of great outcomes for our young people.

It has already been a fantastic start to the term: we have enjoyed welcoming your child back to school and hope that they are feeling positive about their return to the Voyage Learning Campus. Ensuring that we provide a safe, nurturing, holistic learning environment to support our students is at the heart of all we do. To do this fully, we must make sure that all members of our school are working towards our school expectations: Ready, Respectful and Safe. We want to ensure that all our students can feel successful; personally and academically. By following our school expectations we can help our young people make progress in areas that they previously found difficult. Your child’s key tutor/person will have been in touch to check in with you but if there are any additional developments or events that have happened over the six-week break, please do contact us to let us know so that
we can put the best support in place for your child to thrive.

You may have seen recent media coverage regarding Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) and its use in educational settings. RAAC is a lightweight form of concrete; because it is weaker than regular concrete, concerns have been raised about its long-term durability. The Department for Education (DfE) has recently changed its guidance to education settings on the management of RAAC to take a more precautionary approach and as a result, areas in affected spaces will be vacated.

I wanted to inform you that we are not affected by this decision as we do not have RAAC in any of our buildings and therefore school will continue to function as normal. We understand that parents may want to understand more about the support to educational settings to manage RAAC safely. You can read more through the article published by the DfE on the Education Hub. I hope that this offers reassurance.

If you have any queries, please do get in touch via [E-Mail not displayed]

Yours faithfully
